Q & A

What are the benefits in repairing our hydraulic cylinders as opposed to purchasing new?
The benefits in having your hydraulic cylinders repaired or refurbished are: Cost effective - especially for the larger units.
Better seal replacements - you can have your seals upgraded from the original seals and/or install additional wear bands creating greater longevity.
Replace existing chrome-plated shafting - many manufacturers use chrome-plated shafting which is not as durable as induction hard chrome. The surface finish of the shafting can have a great effect on the life of the seals. If the surface has damage or if the roughness is too high or too low, it can create an unacceptable level of leakage. Bent rods are another issue for many. 25% of cylinder rod-seal failures are caused by bent rods. For heavy industrial use, having the shafting replaced will create usage longevity.
Older equipment and obsolete cylinders - We can refurbish an existing cylinder, machine parts that are no longer available, or build new customized to your specifications.
What is the benefit in sending our cylinders to a repair shop as opposed to repairing them in-house?
The benefits in having a cylinder repair shop handle your cylinders are: Save headaches and money - Many times, when a company attempts to carry out the repairs themselves, they think "up and running" and carry out a quick fix, which is fine for the short term. However, in the end, it costs the company as further damage is sure to happen which can lead to more damage and longer down time.
Identify the underlying problem - Replacing seals without investigating the underlying problem is equal to throwing money away. In many cases, the seals are not the underlying cause.
Further damage is not an issue - We have seen cylinders come into our shop after being repaired by others, and the result has been damages to other components of the cylinder requiring further repairs. Companies that attempt to repair a cylinder without proper equipment, tooling and knowledge can and do create further damage.
Reduce operating costs and increase up time - Our shop is set up with a concentration on your hydraulic cylinder. There is minimal setup time, we use top-of-the-line equipment and tooling along with an experienced staff. A company attempting to repair their own cylinders has to factor in the time it would take them as opposed to a specialized shop. In-house repairs can be very costly to a company with down time, set-up time, plus the consideration of lack of proper tooling and knowledge to avoid further damages, as well as paying employee man hours which can easily drive the total cost of the repair over the top. Having the repairs carried out by a repair shop just makes better sense on all levels.
